Over the past few weeks, there have been several leaks emanating from the BlackBerry empire. Mostly around a new flagship device codenamed “BlackBerry Venice“.
At the announcement of its Q2 2015 report, the CEO – John Chen, confirmed the existence of the device which he said will be released later in the year with more official details about the release to be announced in the coming weeks. The device will officially be known as the BlackBerry Priv.
This is definitely a major departure from the norm but the CEO assured everyone that the official BlackBerry 10 OS will continue to be supported with version 10.3.3 set to be released in March 2016.
These are currents specifications for the BlackBerry Priv as we know it, for now.
- Android OS 5.1.1
- 18MP Back Camera
- 5MP Front Camera
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB Internal Memory
- Snapdragon 808 processor
- Slider, Dual curve screen
The device is a flagship and we expect it to be quite pricey following tradition. What do you think of this move by BlackBerry, long time coming or dumb? Would you be buying it when it is finally released?
