RELOADED magazine is launching its third issue and is the first African magazine to introduce interactive print via Augmented Reality app.
RELOADED, the new pop culture and entertainment magazine that launched mid last year, is coming out with Issue #003 this upcoming Thursday, and after Burna Boy and Phyno on the first two issues, it’s Olamide on the cover this time.
The RELOADED Magazine already known for rich magazine content, hi-res photography and fresh graphic design, will be having in its 3rd edition in addition to a cover story on Olamide and other music and entertainment content, a feature on Top Tech Trends of 2014 (3D printing, smartwatches and flexible OLED displays, among others) and a special feature on Augmented Reality, in addition to the usual app and game reviews and cool gadget features, of course.
But that’s not all… Geek alert: In a pioneering move, RELOADED is going to be Africa’s first magazine to introduce Augmented Reality (AR) for editorial content. For those unfamiliar with the technology, AR would turn the entire magazine interactive, so you could be reading an article and access additional digital content (like a video, music, pictures, a contest or else) via an AR app by scanning the magazine page – with a lot more functionality than QR codes.
Apart from linking to digital content, AR is also great for clever integrations with e-commerce: imagine seeing a T-Shirt in the mag that you want to buy but you don’t know where; with AR, you could scan the page and get linked to the item in the e-commerce store that’s selling it. Pretty cool. We’ll get more info on the app, and what RELOADED is using it for, over the next few days, so we’ll keep you posted.
If you want to check out what AR is all about, RELOADED is participating in #SMWLagos with a sneak preview demonstration at Nokia’s EAT.SHOOT.REPEAT. event on Monday at 6pm at Terra Kulture and a full RELOADED Augmented Reality Demo session on Thursday at 1:30pm, also at Terra Kulture.
